I love fresh starts.

Whether it’s the first day of the week, a new month, a new year, a totally cleaned out and deep cleaned room, a new haircut/style! I even tell my kids when I (and they) have lost their minds for a minutes….’let’s regroup, think about things, and have a fresh start’.

Even after my last blog face lift, when I completely started over from scratch, I haven’t been in ‘the mood’ to blog. I have all these ideas but just not the drive or motivation to do so…on here or my essential oils blog. Then when I decide to give my oils logo a little makeover, it sparked something. So I changed up my blog logo too. And then changed it again.

I can’t say I won’t change it again, but I do really like it now. So we are gonna roll with it. I think I have so much in my head of what I want to do, write about, it can get overwhelming. And it shouldn’t be. It’s a blog. Something fun! And I wasn’t making it fun. So no more stressing about ‘do people really want to read about THIS!?’. Because truth is my favorite posts to read are the ones I was questioning myself about.

But that all changes now. I am going to work on a schedule…maybe once a week or every other week to start. I plan on working a similar if not a little more frequent schedule for my essential oils blog so I think that’s a good way to start out right now.

I’m excited to start back up again.

Happy Solar Eclipse Day!

DIY Skin Serum

So if you read my skincare post you know that I made a roller blend to use right before my moisturizer. I know that all the products I’m using are doing great things for my skin but I am totally loving the combination of these oils. Let me give you the details on what you’ll need and what you’ll need to do, then I’ll go into why I choose each oil.

A few things I want to add…

1. When you put it on, it’s looks greasy…I mean it is all oils, lol. But it will soak into your skin in 10 seconds or so.

2. I started off using a roller but when I remade it I put it in a bottle with a dropper top. It’s been easier to apply to my face.

3. You can also put a little in your hand, add your moisturizer, mix it and then put it on, but I like doing them separately.

OK, now on to the fun stuff….

What you’ll need:

-10 ml roll-on bottle  or 1 oz bottle with dropper

The following essential oils

-10 drops Frankincense

-10 drops Lavender

-5 drops Lemon

-5 drops Tea Tree

All of the above come in the starter kit and I started with these 4 only. Then I added these other 2 after a few months for some added benefits. But just using the above 4 will do so much for your skin.

-3 drop Carrot Seed

-3 drops Manuka

-carrier oil of your choice (I use Jojoba oil for my face)

What you’ll do:

-add all your oils to the bottle

-fill the rest of the way with your carrier oil for a roller bottle or half way if you are using a 1 oz dropper bottle

-add your lid and roll around to mix

-roll on (or use a dropper full) after you wash and tone but before/with  moisturizer

Why I choose these oils:

Frankincense has been around in ancient times and has many benefits. It has rejuvenating and beautifying properties for all skin types. It helps moisturize and smooth the skin.

Lavender is one we use every single day….for so many reasons. It soothes and nourishes all skin types and many conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, and scarring.

Lemon is great for cleansing the skin, reducing wrinkles, and acne.

Tea Tree is used for it’s cleansing properties. Great for all skin types but especially for oily skin.

Carrot Seed is great for a lot of skin issues….eczema, oily skin, psoriasis, wrinkles.

Manuka is antibacterial so it’s great for acne.

Menu Monday

I read a blog post from Sarah Adler over at Simply Real Health and a couple things really resonated with me. So I need to get back on track…or maybe not ‘back’ but just on track with eating better and having more balance with food.

So, with that being said, I sat down and meal planned for the week and wanted to share it with you. Do you meal plan? I would love for you to link up your plan in the comments if you blogged about it or just comment with your meal plan or favorite meal. Can never have enough ideas, right?

The meals for this week are all from cookbooks I have and I will link the recipes to the books.

MONDAY: Bell Pepper Taco Skillet

TUESDAY: Simply Grilled Salmon with Cucumber Tomato Salad

WEDNESDAY: Pineapple Glazed Chicken Skewers and Roasted Broccoli
