Bathroom Refresh

I’ve decided that our house needs a little love. We’ve moved a lot for my husbands job (we moved in 2002, 2004, 2008 (twice), 2009, 2010 (twice), and 2013….and we will move hopefully once more in 2018) so it’s hard to feel settled or to want to even hang stuff up or decorate. Because really, why do all that work when we are going to move again soon. But even though we have lived here for 3.5 year and have less than 2 years till we move, I need to feel more settled, I need to feel it’s a home and not just a house. So all that to say I’ve started doing that. And as by the title you can guess I started with the bathroom….the master bathroom. I wanted to keep the same color theme….gray and navy. We had the navy carpets already so I kept those. We each had our own color towels (mine we navy and his were blue) but I decided I wanted all one color. So I purchase new towels…all gray and I like it much better.

I cleared off most of the counter. On my side I still have out my toothbrush and mouthwash. I put away my toothpaste and orange essential oil (I use a drop of my toothbrush each morning). And on husbands side he has his toothbrush and razor stand. We didn’t really have any decor in here either. So I found this large vase stored on the top of my fridge not being used and purchased the rocks and flowers from Michaels. I love how it turned out. I used to not be a bath person. I would take them during…ahem….that time of the month…but that was it. But I’ve really been enjoying taking baths a few nights a week now. I also take a bath with some Epson salt and essential oils. I change up which oils I use by what I need support for. Some nights it’s support for a tired, achy body….some nights I need to totally relax…sometimes I need some ‘womanly’ support….it changes each time. I usually kept the Epson salt under my sink but I purchased this clear apothecary jar from Hobby Lobby and filled it up. I have a small plastic scoop from Party City to school it out, but I’m looking for something a little cuter. Suggestions welcome. I am looking for a little dish or basket to put my most used bath oils in too.I am still looking for something for the wall above the tub across from the towel bar. I’m thinking some taller skinny picture frame….some bluish flowers maybe. Not quite sure…again suggestions welcome. It’s still a progress, but if I waited to blog about it until I was completely done, we’d be moving again probably, lol.A while back I cleaned out, like really cleaned out, our bathroom. I got rid of almost all my beauty products that were full of chemicals and nasty ingredients. It was a little painful to do….it was a good bit of money. But knowing I have mostly natural, good products makes me happy. I have this post on the makeup I started using…I’m still using all that I talked about now plus more. If you’d like to see an updated makeup post let me know.

What do you do to relax? Always up for some new ways to wind down and relax!

Your bathroom feels so relaxing & peaceful, and I love that bath pillow! I think the flowers are an awesome touch, I love keeping some scattered around my house too. I’m in the process of making my apartment feel “homey” and am really excited to see the transformation of your house…looks great!!

Thanks Suzie! My husband says that all the rooms can’t be navy, gray, brown, and white….I say they can, LOL!
